Who wins with it

Choose it if

You're a small or mid-size independent agency that values support and short contracts, and your team works from Windows PCs.

Skip it if

You need a fully browser-based system, or you run a large multi-branch agency with benefits and complex accounting.

The good and the catch

+Support is the standout. HawkSoft reports 97% first-call resolution, and G2's AMS360 vs HawkSoft comparison gives it a 9.6 quality-of-support score versus 8.6 for AMS360 (Oct 2026).
+Short, low-risk contracts. The vendor says its agreement has no term beyond 30 days and no early termination or data extraction fees.
+Connects to ten comparative raters. HawkSoft Rater sends client data to raters including EZLynx, PL Rating, TurboRater, QuoteRUSH and Applied Rater for home and auto.
+Large partner list. Its partner directory lists API integrations for AI tools, payments, texting, e-signature and quoting tools such as SALT, Canopy Connect and Gaya.
−Desktop-first. The main app is a native Windows program; the browser Agent Portal covers a subset of tasks such as client lookups, logs, tasks and reports.
−Rater link is personal lines only. HawkSoft Rater covers home and auto; commercial raters are separate partner integrations such as InsureZone.
−Add-ons cost extra. Core features come in the base subscription, but add-ons and partner integrations carry separate fees.
−Less suited to large agencies. Most G2 reviewers are agencies of 50 or fewer employees, and the vendor doesn't document benefits administration.

What it is

HawkSoft is an agency management system (AMS) for independent P&C agencies. The company was founded in 1995, describes itself as independently owned and says it was created by independent agents. It says it “powers thousands of agencies” and that customers stay an average of 18 years. It handles personal and commercial lines policy management, accounting, tasks, documents, reporting and client communication.

How it works

HawkSoft is a native Windows app installed on office PCs and laptops, with data hosted in the cloud. A browser-based Agent Portal covers client and policy lookups, logs, tasks, reports, trust accounting, commissions, carrier downloads and setup. A typical new-business flow, per the vendor’s documentation:

  1. Capture the lead. Website lead capture and lead management categories feed new prospects into the system.
  2. Rate it. HawkSoft Rater sends the client’s data to your comparative rater, so you don’t re-enter it. It integrates with ten raters, including EZLynx Rating Engine, PL Rating, TurboRater, QuoteRUSH, Applied Rater and FSC Rater. Most cover home and auto; AccuAgency and Quomation are auto only.
  3. Work the carrier site. HawkLink, a Chrome add-on included with the subscription, autofills policy data on carrier websites.
  4. Bind and download. Carrier downloads update policies, and automated workflows act on them.
  5. Service and retain. Retention Alerts flag at-risk clients. Uprate Alerts flag rate increases. Batch email, text and e-signature handle outreach.
  6. Account for it. Built-in insurance accounting covers trust accounting and commissions. Commission statements import from Excel or CSV, and operating accounting connects to QuickBooks.

Agency Intelligence reporting tracks close ratios, policies per client, commissions by carrier and retention.

Where it’s strong

Support. HawkSoft reports 97% first-call resolution, and G2’s comparison pages give it a 9.6 quality-of-support score. That’s higher than AMS360 (8.6) as of October 2026.

Low lock-in. The vendor’s agreement has no term beyond 30 days and no early termination or data extraction fees. That’s unusual among AMS vendors.

Rater and partner choice. Ten rater integrations and a long partner list let you keep the tools you have. Partners include AgencyZoom, SALT, Canopy Connect, Gaya and several AI vendors.

Conversion help. Specialists convert data from legacy systems, and agencies can start working within 24 hours of the final conversion.

What agencies tell us

Smaller agencies often build their own intake stack: a web form, Zapier, a CRM like AgencyZoom for the pipeline, and the AMS as the record. We’ve seen HawkSoft in that record-keeping role. If that’s your plan, confirm which partner connections write back to HawkSoft and which only read from it.

Where it falls short

Not fully browser-based. The full feature set lives in the Windows app. Some G2 reviewers report lag over remote access, and some mid-market reviewers see the desktop model as a gap.

Personal lines rating focus. The built-in rater link is home and auto. Commercial rating runs through separate partners such as InsureZone.

Large-agency features. Most G2 reviewers come from agencies of 50 or fewer employees. We found no documentation of benefits administration, which larger multi-line agencies often need.

Add-on costs. Core features are in the base subscription, but add-ons and integrations cost extra.

Pricing and setup

HawkSoft’s site doesn’t list prices. Its G2 listing, supplied by the vendor, describes a flat base fee plus $94 per user per month (as of October 2026). Request a proposal to confirm the base fee and add-on costs. Setup includes data conversion by HawkSoft specialists. Contracts run month to month after the first 30 days, with no early termination fees.

Who should look elsewhere

  • Large or multi-line agencies (roughly 50+ staff, P&C plus benefits). An enterprise AMS such as Applied Epic or AMS360 offers deeper accounting, multi-branch permissions and benefits support.
  • Agencies that want a fully cloud system. A browser-based AMS fits remote teams that don’t want to manage Windows installs.
  • Very small personal lines startups. An all-in-one system that bundles the AMS with a comparative rater, such as EZLynx, may cost less than an AMS plus a separate rater.

What agencies say

Reviewers on both sites praise responsive support and having client files, notes and documents in one system that's easy to learn. Complaints center on features that cost extra, limited batch actions and reporting, and an API that was slow to open up.
