How to choose
What matters most, in order
Many carriers have no quoting API. Ask whether the agent can work real carrier portals with your agency's logins.
Ask how it gets one-time codes at each carrier, whether codes landing in a shared inbox need your IT provider to forward, and which carriers still require a person to log in.
Time a real quote from submission to every carrier back. If it's slower than your rater plus re-keying the top carriers, staff will go back to the rater.
Watch a real submission end to end, including the underwriting questions. Try a home app missing the roof year or pool answer and an auto app with an unlisted household driver.
Ask how you review what the agent entered before anything is submitted, and who is accountable for errors (E&O).
Ask how carrier credentials are stored, who can see client data, whether reduced-permission logins work, and how it picks the right producer code for each appointment.
