Who wins with it

Choose it if

You run a small or growing P&C agency and want a browser-based AMS with published pricing, a free trial and no long-term contract.

Skip it if

You need deep enterprise accounting, benefits administration or a long track record of large-agency deployments.

The good and the catch

+Published pricing and no contracts. Momentum lists Essentials at $119/month, Professional at $199/month and Business at $419/month, with $54 per extra seat, and its homepage says there are no contracts (Oct 2026).
+Fully browser-based. The AMS runs in the browser, and NC Roam provides mobile access, so there's no Windows install to maintain.
+Wide carrier download coverage. The AMS page says policy data updates automatically from 300+ carrier databases, using IVANS downloads.
+Own rater and automation add-ons. Momentum Rate quotes 65+ auto, 35+ home and 10+ commercial carriers from inside the AMS, and the Momentum Automation Center adds pipelines and workflows.
−Key features depend on the tier. On Essentials, IVANS downloads cost $35/month extra and there's no insured portal, Outlook sync or custom reports; broker/wholesaler tools and private servers are Enterprise only.
−Many separately priced products. Rate ($100–$300/month), the Automation Center (up to $199/month), Voice and the API plan ($99–$1,499/month) are each priced separately, so totals add up.
−Conversion and training cost extra. Each conversion pass is billed separately, data cleanup starts at $1,000 for 10 hours, and expert training is $120/hour.
−Fast-changing company. NowCerts merged with Insurance Gig in 2023, rebranded as Momentum in 2024, and bought 20 Miles and TrustedChoice.com, so product names and bundles keep shifting.

What it is

Momentum AMS is the agency management system formerly sold as NowCerts. NowCerts was founded in 2009. It merged with Insurance Gig in 2023, and the combined company rebranded as Momentum in 2024. The AMS is now one part of a suite the vendor calls Momentum AMP, alongside a comparative rater, a workflow automation center, premium finance, AI voice agents and outsourced staff. The site footer still reads NowCerts, Inc.

The vendor describes itself as the fourth-largest AMS provider in the US. Its partner page cites 1,500+ agencies, 10,000+ producers and $10 billion+ in premium (as of October 2026). Those are vendor figures we couldn’t check independently.

The company has also been buying. Coverager reported its purchase of 20 Miles, a commercial insurance CRM, which became the basis for the automation center. In June 2025 Momentum took over TrustedChoice.com, the consumer lead site for independent agents, according to Agency Checklists.

How it works

Momentum AMS runs in the browser. Based on the vendor’s product, pricing and conversion pages:

  1. Convert your data. Momentum’s in-house team runs a two-phase conversion. A first pass lets you review and clean up. A final pass takes you live within 24 hours of approval, excluding weekends. Converted data includes clients, policies, coverages, notes, attachments, tasks, claims, certificate holders and additional insureds.
  2. Connect carrier downloads. IVANS setup starts after the import. The vendor says the AMS updates policies from 300+ carrier databases.
  3. Work the pipeline. Sales pipeline, renewal center, custom workflows and an agency dashboard come on every tier.
  4. Quote. A PL Rater integration is listed on all tiers. Momentum Rate, sold separately, pre-fills home and auto quotes from AMS data and covers 65+ auto, 35+ home and 10+ commercial carriers.
  5. Service. Clients can issue their own certificates of insurance. An insured portal is included from Professional up. A claims module tracks claim requests with carriers and MGAs, and loss runs are built in.
  6. Account for it. Billing, invoices, receipts and commission reconciliation are included, with a QuickBooks integration.

Where it’s strong

Price you can check. Few AMS vendors publish prices. Momentum lists every tier and the per-seat cost, and offers a free trial.

Low lock-in. The homepage says there are no contracts.

Cloud-first. Nothing to install, plus mobile access through NC Roam.

Open API. An open API and Zapier support let you connect other tools. The API is sold as its own plan.

What agencies tell us

Smaller agencies often build their own intake stack: a web form, Zapier, a CRM for the pipeline, and the AMS as the record. We’ve seen this system play that role behind off-the-shelf web forms. No one has given us a strong opinion on it either way, so treat this as a common setup, not a verdict.

Conversion process is spelled out. The vendor publishes its steps, what data comes over and the fees.

Where it falls short

Tiers gate common features. On Essentials, carrier downloads are a $35 monthly add-on. Outlook and Google sync, VoIP, custom reports and the insured portal need Professional or higher.

Costs stack up. Rater, automation, voice and API access are separate subscriptions. Price the full bundle you’ll use, not just the AMS.

Onboarding is lighter than the headline suggests. The free package is a 30-minute onboarding call and a 60-minute orientation. Live expert training costs $120 an hour.

Constant change. Mergers, acquisitions and a rebrand in three years mean names and bundles keep moving. Ask what’s in your contract today.

Few recent reviews. Momentum AMP has 7 G2 reviews (3.8/5) dated 2018–2024, and reviewers mention a steep learning curve (Oct 2026).

Pricing and setup

Published AMS pricing as of October 2026:

  • Essentials: $119/month, 1 user, 50 GB storage.
  • Professional: $199/month, 2 users, 100 GB.
  • Business: $419/month, 5 users, 200 GB, with carrier downloads included.
  • Enterprise: by quote, for 50+ users, with a private server and contractual onboarding.

Extra seats are $54 each on every tier. The AMS page says agencies go live in 3–4 weeks on average. The conversion page says most implementations take 1–2 weeks. Conversion passes are billed separately, and data cleanup starts at $1,000 for the first 10 hours, then $100 an hour.

Who should look elsewhere

  • Large or multi-line agencies. An enterprise AMS such as Applied Epic or AMS360 offers deeper accounting, multi-branch controls and benefits support.
  • Agencies that want one bundled price. If separate add-on subscriptions worry you, compare a system that includes rating and automation in a single quote.
  • Personal lines agencies built around one rater. If you already run the EZLynx Rating Engine, an AMS on the same platform avoids moving quotes between systems.

What agencies say

Reviewers, writing between 2018 and 2024, like the browser access, competitive price and responsive support. Complaints include a steep learning curve, glitches, duplicate client records and limited custom reporting.
