Who wins with it
You run Applied Epic or EZLynx and want one application to reach your appointed small-commercial carriers without rekeying.
You're not on an Applied system, or your top carriers aren't on Tarmika's panel in your states.
The good and the catch
What it is
Tarmika Bridge is a comparative rater for small commercial. It is built for independent agencies. You enter a business once and send it to several carriers at the same time. Applied Systems bought Tarmika in August 2022, according to Coverager. Tarmika also made Tunnel, an embedded quoting tool for consumer-facing sites. Applied now sells that as Tarmika Insured.
Applied says Bridge connects to more than 35 commercial markets through the Ivans Distribution Platform. Applied names BOP, workers’ comp, general liability and cyber as the core lines.
How it works
Applied’s product sheet describes this flow:
- Start the account. In Applied Epic or EZLynx, account and policy data pre-fills the application, according to Applied.
- Classify the business. A classification search powered by Ask Kodiak shows which markets are in appetite for that class.
- Pick markets. Dynamic Carrier Selection uses the class to suggest eligible markets. These include carriers you’re appointed with and markets available through Applied’s Market Access.
- Answer one question set. Duplicate underwriting questions are removed, so you answer each one once per submission.
- Compare quotes. Bindable rates from appointed carriers come back side by side.
- Finish with the carrier. You carry the data over to the carrier’s portal to complete binding. You can also generate pre-filled ACORD forms for markets that aren’t connected.
Applied cites a founder estimate that agents complete the flow in under 10 minutes on average. That’s the vendor’s own figure.
Where it’s strong
- AMS fit. Tarmika is owned by the company that makes Applied Epic and EZLynx, and Applied documents integrations with both. Epic Quotes Commercial Lines, released September 10, 2024, goes further. It runs Tarmika’s rating inside Epic, creates a policy shell in Epic when a quote is marked sold, and tracks all quotes in one view.
- Appetite before data entry. Filtering markets by class first means you spend less time on applications that would be declined.
- ACORD output. If a risk falls out of the connected markets, you still have ACORD forms to send elsewhere.
- Carrier panel. A vendor-supplied profile on the Catalyit directory (June 2024) lists carriers including Liberty Mutual, Travelers, Chubb, CNA, Hanover, Nationwide, AmTrust, Markel, Westfield, Employers and Coterie.
Where it falls short
- Unclear product direction. As of October 2026, tarmika.com redirects to Applied Epic’s commercial quoting page. Applied also runs a webinar on switching from Tarmika to Epic Quotes Commercial Lines. If you’re not on Epic, ask Applied how long standalone Bridge will be supported.
- Gaps in the carrier list. The Hartford, Progressive and NEXT do not appear in the Catalyit carrier list. We couldn’t check Applied’s live carrier page for this review, so check your top five carriers by state during the demo.
- Fall-out goes to the portal. Bridge returns comparative rates, but Applied says you finish in the insurer’s portal. Referrals and underwriter questions will still be handled there.
- Limited public reviews. We could not find enough public user reviews to summarize.
Pricing and setup
Applied does not publish pricing for Tarmika. Its pages offer a demo request, a contact-sales form and an ROI calculator. We could not confirm a contract term or how long setup takes. You need your own carrier appointments for direct quoting. Applied’s sheet also mentions Market Access, but it doesn’t spell out the terms.
Who should look elsewhere
- Agencies on a non-Applied AMS should look at an independent multi-carrier platform with published pricing and a broad carrier list. These platforms don’t depend on one AMS vendor’s plans.
- Agencies without many appointments may do better on an exchange or a platform that offers market access appointments, so they can quote carriers they aren’t appointed with.
- Brokerages building their own quoting flow should look at a developer API that connects to carriers directly.
