Who wins with it
You run a small independent agency that wants a simple cloud AMS with built-in texting, marketing campaigns and day-to-day cash handling, especially in North Carolina.
You need documented commercial lines rating, a published conversion process or enterprise-scale accounting and permissions.
The good and the catch
What it is
JenesisNow is a cloud-based agency management system (AMS) for independent insurance agencies, made by Jenesis Software of Elon, North Carolina. Founder Eddie Price started an independent agency in 1991 and taught himself programming to build its management system. Other agents asked to buy it, and Jenesis Software was incorporated in 1999. He sold the agency in 2018 to focus on the software, according to the company’s team page.
Jenesis sells two systems. JenesisNow is the web-based product covered here. JenesisClassic is an older, separate product that still receives updates, as a July 2026 press release about both products’ raters shows. Jenesis also sells agency websites, SEO, logo design and marketing services, and pitches buying the AMS and marketing from one vendor.
How it works
Based on the vendor’s product and integration pages:
- Bring in contacts. You can import customer and prospect lists from a CSV file.
- Download policies. IVANS downloads bring in personal and commercial lines policy data, renewals, endorsements and commissions. Ebix TEAM-UP downloads are also supported.
- Quote. In North Carolina, the built-in J-Rate rater quotes personal auto with carriers such as Progressive, Liberty Mutual, National General, Dairyland Auto, Discovery and Insurance House. Elsewhere, PL Rating and TurboRater integrations pass client data to the rater.
- Communicate. Two-way email and texting (through Twilio), VoIP click-to-call with caller recognition (RingCentral, Lightspeed Voice) and e-signatures (DocuSign) work from the client record.
- Market and retain. Automated campaigns handle cross-selling, birthdays and new-customer touches. Renewal reminders filter by status, effective date, line and owner. JenesisLink, a separate CRM and marketing platform, adds funnels and scheduling.
- Account for it. Receipts, invoices, credit card payments, premium finance through Imperial PFS, a commission manager and an End of Day Manager handle the money side. Data exports to QuickBooks.
A client portal gives policyholders 24/7 access to documents, certificates and payment history.
Where it’s strong
Fit for small storefront agencies. Cash-drawer closeout by location, receipts, an employee time clock and a productivity log suit offices that take payments in person.
North Carolina rating. A free built-in auto rater with NC carriers is a real cost saving for agencies in that state.
Communication built in. Texting, VoIP and marketing campaigns are core features, not separate partner subscriptions.
Agent roots. The product was built inside a working agency, and the founder is still president.
Where it falls short
Rating outside NC. Other agencies rely on PL Rating or TurboRater at extra cost. We found no commercial lines rater integration.
Thin public detail. There’s no pricing page and no published conversion process, timeline or contract terms. You’ll need to get all of it in writing during the sales process.
Smaller ecosystem. The integration list covers about 20 partners. That’s fewer than the larger AMS vendors’ marketplaces, and we found no public API documentation.
Download accuracy. The most common complaint from G2 reviewers is carrier downloads that don’t always come in correctly (Oct 2026).
Pricing and setup
Jenesis doesn’t publish pricing; its site directs buyers to book a demo (as of October 2026). The FAQ says onboarding, training and ongoing support are provided, and the product page mentions a Jenesis certification program. Neither describes fees. Third-party rater integrations cost extra, per the vendor. Ask for the per-user price, any per-location base fee, conversion costs and the contract term.
System needs are light: Chrome, a fast connection, and a TWAIN scanner if you scan straight into the system. The vendor says data is hosted in US data centers with two-factor authentication.
Who should look elsewhere
- Commercial-heavy agencies. An AMS with commercial rating partners and stronger commercial workflows will save more time.
- Larger or multi-branch agencies. An enterprise AMS such as Applied Epic or AMS360 offers deeper accounting, permissions and benefits support.
- Buyers who want published prices and terms. Some cloud AMS vendors publish per-seat pricing and no-contract terms you can check before a demo.
What agencies say
Reviewers single out ease of use and fast, personal support, along with texting and emailing clients from the system. Complaints include carrier downloads that sometimes come in wrong, occasional slowness or glitches, and clumsy document drag-and-drop.
