Who wins with it

Choose it if

You're a mid-size or large commercial brokerage that outsources policy checking today and wants it done in-house by AI inside your existing systems.

Skip it if

You're a small agency that wants a self-serve tool with a published price and a quick start.

The good and the catch

+Named large-broker results. Heffernan Insurance Brokers reports policy checking turnaround falling from up to 15 days to minutes, and Lockton's West region calls it automatic and immediate (vendor case studies).
+Audited security. The vendor holds a SOC 2 Type II attestation, runs annual third-party penetration tests and offers a single-tenant option.
+No training on your data. Per its security page, its AI providers process requests under zero-data-retention agreements and documents aren't used for training.
+Well funded. Fulcrum raised $25M in seed and Series A funding led by CRV in January 2026, and Coverager reports it serves nearly half of the top 50 US brokerages.
−Built for large brokerages. Its named customers, such as Lockton, Foundation Risk Partners and Heffernan, are large commercial brokers; it doesn't market a small-agency plan.
−Policy check details are sparse. The vendor says it compares policies against requirements, submissions and existing coverage, but doesn't publish a checklist or supported lines.
−AMS support isn't listed. Its site says it works with your AMS; Applied Epic is the only system named, on its security page.
−Pricing isn't public. There's no price list as of October 2026; you book a demo.

What it is

Fulcrum sells AI agents that handle servicing work at insurance brokerages: policy checking, coverage comparisons, proposals and certificates. It works inside the AMS, email and document systems a brokerage already uses. Co-founders Arjun Mangla (CEO) and Sambhav Anand (CTO) lead the company.

In January 2026 Fulcrum announced $25 million across seed and Series A rounds, led by CRV, with South Park Commons and Foundation Capital participating. Coverager reported that Fulcrum serves nearly half of the top 50 US brokerages. Named customers include Lockton’s West region, Foundation Risk Partners, Sihle Insurance Group, Buckner, M3 Insurance and Heffernan Insurance Brokers.

How it works

Fulcrum publishes outcomes more than steps. From its servicing page and the Heffernan case study:

  1. Connect systems. The agent works with Outlook and your AMS, keeping account context current. Its security page names Applied Epic connections.
  2. Compare. Policies are compared against requirements, submissions and existing coverage. The Heffernan case study centers on gaps between the bound quote and the issued policy.
  3. Flag. It flags discrepancies and missing terms and produces standardized, audit-ready output.
  4. Keep the workflow. Per the case study, account managers keep their current process; the agent runs alongside them in-house rather than through an outsourcer.

Related workflows include coverage gap analysis, exclusion and sublimit review, exposure comparison, loss run analysis, and custom workflows built from your own SOPs.

Where it’s strong

Evidence from real brokerages. Heffernan, a top-25 brokerage with about 670 employees, reports policy checking turnaround dropping from up to 15 days to minutes with no added headcount. Lockton’s West region describes a two-week outsourced process becoming immediate. These are vendor-published case studies.

Security posture. SOC 2 Type II audited annually, annual penetration tests, AES-256 encryption at rest, SSO with MFA, and a single-tenant hosting option.

Breadth. Proposals, certificates and coverage comparisons run on the same platform, which matters if you are replacing an outsourcing contract that covered several tasks.

Where it falls short

Large-broker focus. Fulcrum’s customers and funding announcement point to large commercial and specialty brokerages. Small agencies may find the sales process and scope oversized.

Few product specifics. The vendor doesn’t publish a checklist, supported policy types or accuracy figures for policy checking as of October 2026.

Integration list. Applied Epic is the only AMS named. Ask about yours.

Vendor-reported results. The 5:1 blended ROI at Lockton’s West region and other figures come from Fulcrum.

Pricing and setup

Pricing isn’t published as of October 2026; you book a demo. The Heffernan case study says the brokerage cut extra seat, login and pass-through technology fees, but gives no Fulcrum price. Setup connects Fulcrum to your AMS, email and document storage. Contract terms aren’t published.

Who should look elsewhere

  • Small and mid-size agencies. A self-service checker with a monthly subscription is easier to trial and budget.
  • Agencies that want the vendor to carry E&O on checks. A managed policy checking service that reviews results with its own staff and covers the work under its E&O is a different risk trade.
  • Personal lines renewal teams. A renewal-review tool built around home and auto, with requoting, fits that work better.
