Who wins with it

Choose it if

Your producers waste time chasing prospects for dec pages and re-typing drivers, vehicles and limits into a rater or CRM.

Skip it if

Your bottleneck is filling long commercial applications and supplementals, which this tool doesn't produce.

The good and the catch

+Data comes from the source. Prospects can share policy data through their carrier login, and the vendor reports access to about 400 personal and commercial P&C carriers (Oct 2026).
+Several ways to share. A branded link by text, email or QR code, a website widget, a dec page upload, email intake or a call with the agent.
+Named rater and AMS integrations. The vendor lists PL Rating, Applied Epic, EZLynx, HawkSoft and AgencyZoom, plus an API with 500+ data fields.
+Audited security. The vendor states SOC 2 Type 2 certification, AES-256 encryption at rest and TLS 1.3+ in transit.
−Intake, not applications. It captures current coverage, limits, drivers and dec pages; it doesn't fill ACORD applications or submit to carriers.
−Prices aren't public. The site offers a 14-day agency trial but lists no prices for agency or API plans (Oct 2026).
−Commercial coverage is an estimate. The vendor says 90% of standard commercial carriers, which it labels an estimate, and its customer stories are mostly personal lines.

What it is

Canopy Connect is an insurance intake and verification tool. Instead of asking a prospect to dig up and email a dec page, the agency sends a link. The prospect shares their current policy, and the agency gets structured data: carrier, premium, limits, deductibles, drivers, vehicles, property details and recent documents.

Tolga Tezel founded the company in 2020, per Coverager. In October 2023 it announced a $6.5 million Series A led by Nevcaut Ventures and said more than 3,000 insurance agencies used it. As of October 2026 the homepage says it’s trusted by 6,000 agencies, networks, insurtechs and lenders, with logos including Big I Alliance and SIAA. Canopy also sells to lenders, auto dealers and other businesses that verify insurance, so agencies are one of several markets.

How it works

Per the vendor’s site (October 2026):

  1. Send a link. The agency sends a branded link by text, email or QR code, or embeds a widget on its website.
  2. Prospect shares coverage. The prospect picks how to share: log in to their current carrier, upload a dec page, fill in a form, or talk it through with the agent. An Email Intake option lets prospects email dec pages, ACORD forms or photos, which are converted to structured data.
  3. Review in the dashboard. The agent sees structured policy data (the vendor says 500+ fields) and recent documents.
  4. Send it on. Data goes to a rater, CRM or AMS. The vendor names PL Rating, Applied Epic, EZLynx, HawkSoft and AgencyZoom. An API and SDK are available for custom builds.

Where it’s strong

Fewer chase emails. Getting a prior dec page is one of the slowest steps in personal lines remarketing. Pulling coverage from the carrier login removes the back-and-forth when the prospect cooperates.

Carrier reach. The vendor reports access to about 400 personal and commercial P&C carriers. It claims coverage of 96% of the auto market and 91% of homeowners, based on NAIC 2023 market share, plus an estimated 90% of standard commercial carriers (as of October 2026).

Fits personal lines tools. Named connections to PL Rating, EZLynx, HawkSoft and AgencyZoom cover common personal lines stacks. One customer testimonial on the site (a Trucordia producer) says it saves about thirty minutes per client.

Security. The vendor states SOC 2 Type 2 certification, continuous monitoring, AES-256 encryption at rest and TLS 1.3+ in transit.

Where it falls short

It stops at intake. Canopy gives you verified current coverage. It doesn’t build ACORD applications, fill carrier supplementals or send submissions. You still need a rater, quoting tool or form filler for the next step.

Depends on the prospect. Carrier-login sharing only works if the prospect is willing to log in. The dec page and conversation options are fallbacks, but they bring back some manual work.

Commercial is secondary. The 90% commercial figure is labeled an estimate, and the site’s integrations and testimonials lean personal lines.

Data gaps by carrier. G2 reviewers say some carriers don’t return every field or document, so the dec page is sometimes the fallback (Oct 2026).

Pricing and setup

The site offers a 14-day trial for agencies but doesn’t list prices for agency plans or API packages (as of October 2026). Setup for the link and widget is self-serve. API and SDK work needs your own developer or vendor.

Who should look elsewhere

  • Commercial agencies filling long applications. A commercial application portal or AI ACORD filler that reads dec pages and loss runs into the 125, 126 and 140 does more for that work.
  • Budget-focused small agencies. If you mainly want dec page collection and ACORD output at a known monthly price, a lower-cost dec page collection tool with published pricing may be enough.
  • Agencies that want the quote run for them. An AI quoting agent takes intake through to carrier quotes rather than stopping at the data.

What agencies say

Reviewers say prospects find the link easy to complete by text or email, and that seeing current premiums and coverages speeds up quoting. Complaints are that some carriers don't return complete data or documents, commercial policies work less well, and the question flow is hard to customize.
