What happened
Applied Systems launched Epic Conductor on September 29, 2026, at its Applied Net user conference in Washington, D.C. It is an AI platform built into Applied Epic. It runs under Epic’s existing security permissions and audit controls, so there is no separate tool or data migration.
Applied groups the features into three areas, according to trade coverage of the launch:
- Operational automation: natural-language search across Epic records and documents. Extraction of policy and new business data from carrier documents such as dec pages and applications, written back into Epic. Policy checking and quote comparison that flag wrong limits or missing endorsements. Certificates drafted from live policy data, which staff approve before issue.
- Financial automation: policies, transactions and invoices generated from carrier documents. Commission statements pulled from carrier portals. Direct bill, agency bill and bank reconciliation, with a human review step.
- Connected trading: one view of marketed submissions with status and carrier quotes. ACORD applications filled from submission documents. Renewal quote requests sent to carriers in their own formats, with responses returned to Epic.
Applied’s own numbers include 55 minutes saved per submission, 99% extraction accuracy across more than 90 carriers, and a 90% cut in reconciliation hours. Insurance Business noted that Applied has not said how it measured these, which agencies took part, or what the baselines were. No coverage we found gave pricing or a general availability date.
Why it matters for agencies
In our view, this is the biggest move yet by an AMS vendor to keep AI work inside the system of record. Many Epic agencies now run separate AI tools for policy checking, extraction or reconciliation. Conductor goes after each of those jobs natively.
Two cautions. First, the claims are vendor claims. A 99% figure means little until Applied says whether it is per field, per document or per policy; one wrong limit on a renewal is an E&O issue. Second, the three-hour renewal turnaround depends on carriers quoting back into Epic. That is a carrier participation question, not a software switch.
What to do
- Epic agencies: ask your Applied rep for pricing, whether Conductor is licensed per module or as one bundle, and the release date for each feature.
- Ask how accuracy is measured and how often staff corrected extracted data during pilots.
- Ask which of your top carriers support connected-trading renewals today.
- If you pay for a third-party AI tool on Epic: don’t cancel yet. Line up its features against Conductor’s once pricing is public, and compare them on your own documents.
- Non-Epic agencies can wait. Vertafore announced similar AI agents for AMS360 and Sagitta the week before.
