Who wins with it
You're on Applied Epic and want one branded portal where clients get documents, pay bills, report claims and handle routine certificates.
Certificates are your main pain and you need contract review, wording libraries or automatic reissue across many holders.
The good and the catch
What it is
Applied CSR24 is Applied Systems’ online and mobile self-service portal for agency clients. Clients get 24/7 access to documents, bill pay, claims and policy change requests through a portal and app branded with the agency’s images and colors. Certificates of insurance are one of the portal’s features. As of October 2026, Applied’s site calls it the Service Portal through Applied Epic, “the product formerly known as Applied CSR24.”
CSR24 isn’t a standalone certificate product. It earns a place here because, for many Applied agencies, it’s where certificate self-service already lives, and Applied has added certificate features in 2026.
How it works
Per Applied’s product page, release notes and blog (October 2026):
- Agency sets up the portal. The agency decides which features clients can use. Applied’s blog lists issuing and requesting certificates of insurance among the options the agency controls, and says features you aren’t ready to offer can stay switched off.
- Data comes from the management system. Premium Certificate Processing integrates with your management system to remove duplicate entry of coverage and policyholder data.
- Clients request or issue certificates. Depending on what the agency enables, clients request certificates or issue routine ones through the portal. Applied’s blog also lists managing certificates and attaching custom endorsements among requests the agency’s service team handles in CSR24.
- Holders validate coverage. Since January 2026, certificates emailed from the portal carry a secure validation link and QR code. Holders can check coverage status in real time, and the check flags expirations, coverage reductions, removed policies and changes in insured status.
Where it’s strong
One portal for clients. Clients who already log in to pay bills or download ID cards can handle certificates in the same place. That should get more use than a separate certificate site.
Live validation. The 2026 QR-code check addresses a long-standing ACORD 25 weakness: a static certificate can show coverage that has since been cancelled. Holders now see current status.
Agency control. Switching features on per agency lets you offer certificate self-service only when your wording and holder rules are ready.
Applied ecosystem. For Applied Epic agencies, CSR24 draws on the same policy data and sits next to other Applied tools. Third parties also build around it. Certificial says its free Epic plugin works alongside CSR24’s certificate issuance, not in place of it.
What agencies tell us
A commercial agency told us it gets about ten certificate requests a day. The master ACORD 25 is already built; the job is adding the holder and sending it. That’s the routine work client self-issue is meant to take off the desk. Whether it does depends on the question below: can clients add a new holder without approval?
Where it falls short
Not a specialist COI tool. Applied’s public pages don’t describe contract-requirement review, wording and endorsement libraries, bulk reissue to many holders, or certificate analytics.
Thin public detail. The product page doesn’t spell out exactly how client self-issue works, such as whether clients can add new holders or edit wording without approval. Ask Applied for a demo of the certificate flow specifically.
Tied to Applied. The January 2026 validation feature is tagged for Applied Epic users, and the product page refers only to “your management system.” Confirm support if you’re on another Applied system.
Interface complaints. G2 reviewers describe the admin side as dated and hard to navigate, and a few mention delays before processed items appear in the AMS (Oct 2026).
Pricing and setup
Applied doesn’t publish CSR24 pricing (as of October 2026). Setup covers portal branding, choosing which features clients see and connecting your management system.
Who should look elsewhere
- Commercial agencies with heavy certificate volume. A dedicated issuance platform with AI contract review and wording controls handles complex holder requirements better.
- Agencies wanting a free add-on. A free certificate network can add auto-updating certificates on top of whatever AMS you use.
- Agencies not on Applied. Your own AMS’s client portal or a standalone COI tool will integrate more naturally.
What agencies say
Reviewers say letting insureds pull their own certificates and documents cuts routine requests to staff, and batch renewal COIs save time. Complaints center on a dated, clunky admin interface, limited customization and occasional delays before items show up in the AMS.
