The short version

EZLynx Rating Engine and Vertafore’s PL Rating are the two biggest personal lines comparative raters by published carrier count. Both let you enter a home or auto risk once and get real-time quotes from many carriers. Both keep their pricing private.

The practical difference is the AMS each one belongs to. EZLynx’s rater runs on the same platform as the EZLynx Management System, owned by Applied Systems. PL Rating is Vertafore’s rater and documents integrations with AMS360, Sagitta and QQCatalyst, plus more than 20 other management systems. If you already run one of these systems, that usually settles it.

Beyond the AMS, PL Rating has two features EZLynx’s documented workflow doesn’t: binding inside the rater with participating carriers, and flood quotes next to home results.

Carriers and lines

EZLynx lists 330+ carriers across 48 states as of October 2026. It quotes auto, home and dwelling fire. In May 2024, Florida’s Citizens Property Insurance gave its appointed agents no-cost access to the Rating Engine for home and dwelling fire quotes.

PL Rating cites 300+ carrier partners on its product page, which also says 320+ in one heading. Vertafore’s 2026 buyer’s guide puts coverage at 49 states plus Washington, DC. The 2026 data sheet lists auto, homeowners, package, renters and condo. Motorcycle and dwelling fire are listed for California only. Flood quotes from National Flood Services, Selective and Aon Edge can show beside home quotes, and private flood MGA reThought Flood joined in October 2026.

The two panels are close in size. Neither publishes a state-by-state count, so check your own appointed carriers in your states with each vendor.

Workflow and integrations

EZLynx: you enter the applicant once, using quote templates for common answers. The rater prefills and validates data from LexisNexis, Fenris, MSB and Google Maps. Results come back in real time with a color-coded comparison. You can send an interactive proposal, and the product includes website quote intake, text-message quoting and abandoned-form follow-up. To bind, EZLynx’s documented flow sends you to the carrier’s portal. The product page names only the EZLynx Management System as an AMS. Its partner page lists 39 technology partners for prefill, leads, payments and communications, not other agency systems.

PL Rating: client data can come from AMS360, Sagitta, QQCatalyst or another connected system. Third-party prefill is available, but LexisNexis validation, violation prefill and CoreLogic home data are add-ons on the data sheet. A dynamic interview collects the rest. Auto and home can be priced together with multi-line discounts. Since April 2024, you can bind, issue and take the down payment inside PL Rating with participating carriers. The launch release named only Acuity, and we couldn’t find a current list, so most quotes still finish on the carrier site.

Pricing and contracts

Neither vendor publishes prices as of October 2026.

EZLynx’s pricing page says cost depends on user count and the products you choose, and that agency network members usually get a discount. We couldn’t confirm contract length or setup fees.

Vertafore says PL Rating setup takes days. Website quoting (Consumer Rate Quotes) and several prefill sources are add-ons. We couldn’t confirm contract length or cancellation terms.

What users say, from Capterra (October 2026): EZLynx (75 reviews of the whole platform, 3.7/5) gets credit for single entry across many carriers, with complaints about support access and rates that don’t always carry over to the carrier site. PL Rating (14 reviews, 4.0/5) is called quick to learn, with a recurring complaint that rates differ from the carrier’s own.

Which one should you pick?

  • EZLynx Management System agencies: EZLynx Rating Engine. It shares the platform, so there’s no integration to manage.
  • AMS360, Sagitta or QQCatalyst agencies: PL Rating. Vertafore documents the integration directly.
  • Agencies writing a lot of flood with home: PL Rating’s flood partners are on the same screen.
  • Agencies that want to bind without leaving the rater: PL Rating, but only if your carriers participate. Ask for the current list.
  • Agencies on another AMS: PL Rating documents 20+ other management systems. EZLynx’s rater page documents none, so ask EZLynx how quotes would reach your system.
  • Agencies quoting from their website: EZLynx includes website intake and text quoting. PL Rating sells website quoting as an add-on.
